Quail has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. When she first arrived she was very overwhelmed to find herself with us. She was unsure of people and clearly wasn't used to much handling or socialisation. She was happy to accept a gentle fuss, but was clearly very worried about it and would rely heavily on the company of her kennel friends for reassurance and comfort.

She has recently moved to a wonderful foster home where she is getting to experience home life for the first time ever. She is still a very nervous girl who has found moving into a foster home quite overwhelming. She initially spent much of her time hiding underneath the bushes in the garden, but has gradually become confident enough to explore the garden. She is still very wary when a person appears and will retreat back towards the bushes to hide, but once she is there, she will allow her fosterer, and even other people, to gently stroke her, pick her up and carry her back inside. Once indoors, she finds comfort and security in her crate.

Quail will be looking for a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and will allow her to settle in at her own pace. She will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to take her under their wing and help her to settle in.

She had never lived in a home before moving to foster, so her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she continues to settle and learn all about home life. As she starts to settle in more, we are hopeful that she will begin to realise that the home is a safe place where she can relax. Her house training is going really well and she has had no accidents in the home, which is a wonderful start.

Quail has also recently begun learning about walking on a lead and harness and has enjoyed her first walk in the nature reserve. She was understandably unsure, but did really well for her first attempt.

She is happy around the resident dogs, although she doesn't currently interact with them and tends to keep to herself. She is fed separately as she is so gentle that she would allow another dog to eat all of her food! She isn't particularly interested in treats yet either, choosing to ignore them when offered.

Quail is still a very timid girl and has a long way to go before she is completely comfortable with home life, but she is making progress in her own quiet way and with lots of time, love and patience she will begin to leave the past behind her and blossom into the girl she should have always had the chance to be.

She has had a dental with us and has had 6 teeth extracted.

She has a travel document.
