Lassie has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. When she first arrived she was overwhelmed by absolutely everything, especially people. She had very little trust in humans in general which meant her kennel humans had to put in a lot of time and effort in to gaining her trust and helping her grow her circle. When meeting new people she needs to put distance between her and them until she decides that she is comfortable enough to approach them. If the person was to make Lassie feel trapped then she may growl or bark to ask for distance.

Once she has a bond with you she becomes the most affectionate, attentive, loyal and loving dog to have as a companion. Lassie will need a resident dog in her new home and since arriving she has had a variety of kennel friends, including a Bernese, Pomskis, Collie, and Beagle. She is also yarded with a mixture of other dogs and does well with them all. She does seem to prefer Collies and would love a Collie friend in her new home, but she could be homed with any dog that is no smaller than a Cocker, as she does find little dogs very fun to herd. 

Due to Lassie’s past she is looking for a home with no cats, small furries or livestock and adopters who will never let her off lead anywhere near sheep fields as she is fixated with them, not surprisingly due to her breed. Lassie must always be kept safe from making the wrong decisions. 

Lassie has never lived in a home before so her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she settles in and learns all about home life as well as new skills like house training.

In the right home Lassie will thrive. She doesn't cope well in busy environments, so someone who enjoys quiet country walks with her would be a great fit. Things like busy cafes and pubs would be far too much for Lassie at the moment and she may never enjoy those things, so her prospective new family will need to bare that in mind when considering bringing her into their home. 

Lassie is a very smart girl who does pick up new things quickly when in a calm and stress free environment. She has learnt 'sit', 'down' and is currently learning 'touch'. She also sits beautifully on the grass verge when waiting for cars to go past on her walks. Walks really are her favourite thing, whenever her harness comes out her whole body can't help but wag. 

She is a girl who does require patience and understanding, especially in the beginning, but she gives you so much in return and will make someone very lucky indeed.

Lassie will need more than one meet and greet with her prospective adopters to allow her time to build a bond and feel comfortable with them before being adopted.
